Troop 618 is chartered to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Beaverton, Oregon and has been in existence for almost 35 years. The Troop has a very active and varied program aimed both at our new Scouts entering the Scouting program for the first time as well as our older, more experienced Scouts who seek new, more challenging opportunities.
The troop conducts monthly campouts that include backpacking, car camping, and venture-level activities. Every summer sees our Scouts at summer camp and our more experienced Scouts on a high adventure trek. The boys have, in addition, put together an annual calendar that includes 3-4 community service opportunities, 3-4 fund raising activities, four Courts of Honor, a Family Campout and various day events that include sports and other fun activities. Troop 618 is truly a boy-run organization. The youth plan and execute their own program. The Troop has an experienced Scoutmaster, with over ten years in scouting, and a strong staff of trained Assistant Scoutmasters to provide the youth leaders any guidance they might need. An organized and well-staffed Troop Committee provides the needed support. We meet every Monday night (except major holidays) at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church. For more information, please contact the Scoutmaster, Mike Bunting.
From our Webelos events TAGS (Take a Giant Step) and Webelos Woods (a Sunset Trail sponsored event at Camp Meriwether on the coast) in the early Fall to High Adventure in late Summer the following year, this Troop does it all! Come check us out, we have a place for you and your son! Let your son leave his mark on the trail in the Sunset Trail District of the Cascade Pacific Council. Please come visit the troop at one of our meetings on Mondays at 7:00 pm!
